Travel With Tamu!

Are you getting your travel list together for 2019? Don’t forget about Tampa, FL.!

In any city I visit, I like to explore the city gems.  Those gems may or may not show up on a “Top 3 Destinations” list but are still very much worth the visit. Some of these areas may only be a few blocks long but hold the true spirit of the city and the people. Tampa has those gems. I put together a list for you and a few pictures from my trips to Tampa this year. I hope this list helps you as you make your plans, travel and otherwise for 2019!

Sponge Docks- This area is actually in Tarpon Springs, which is about 30 miles from Tampa. Although a distance, this area is worth the drive. If I remember correctly, the drive didn’t seem to be over 30 minutes. Sponge Docks is full of quaint Greek restaurants, outside cafes, apparel boutiques, and natural skin care shops.

Ybor- Ybor city, which began as the Cigar Capital, is now an historic district in Tampa. In daylight, it is quiet, but you still may see a Tin Man lip-syncing outside of the 7-eleven or you may be lucky enough to enjoy an outside market with a live band. At night, Ybor transforms into an entertainment district not for the faint.  The district has a host of bars coupled with clubs, Latin and Cuban restaurants. P.S. Please get on the Line Car when you visit!

Hyde Park- Hyde Park Village is what they call it. Yep, you guessed it. If you are in the mood for high end shopping, upscale restaurants, gourmet coffee, and a cupcake with sprinkles atm (I’m not kidding, I have the picture to prove it!), this village you’ll want to visit. Even if high end and upscale is not your thing, it is worth the walk-around to catch in the view and have an impromptu photoshoot!

Downtown Tampa-Why? Because it’s what a downtown should look like. Tall buildings, coffee bars, restaurants for all meat and plant lovers, even the building of the courthouse is pretty! You’ll probably see a yoga class in session right by the water. It’s easy to get lost in environment and lose track of time; sure, it’s busy, but not overwhelming.

I would love to hear about your travel plans! Let me know by commenting on this post or send me an email: info@tamuinc.com

See You in 2019!

Holiday Style Made Simple!

It’s that time again! Holiday lights, holiday shopping (if that’s what you do), & holiday dinners, and straight up holiday parties filled with holiday spirits (and by spirits, I mean Cîroc, Apple Crown Royal, Rose’, I’m sure you can add to this list!) My favorite part in all of this is that holiday party attire!

What do you wear to a holiday party? When you hear this question what do you think of? Maybe you’re thinking of a little black or red dress, a sequin dress or top.  Maybe you’re thinking of one of those solid color strapless or spaghetti strap silk, flow-y dresses?

Well, how about switching it up a little bit and playing around with some prints? One print some tend to shy away from is plaid. But we can have fun with plaid at those holiday parties. How? I’m so glad you asked! To answer that question, I put together a few looks below using the same high-collared sleeveless plaid dress to give you some ideas. The looks will have short descriptions to make your holiday party styling simple!

I would love to see what you put together for your holiday looks! So, email me your pictures or tag me in your social media posts! If you have any styling questions for your party hopping or for anything else, send those questions my way!

Stretch Plaid, High-Collared, Sleeveless Dress with flattering silhouette and no spanx needed with a stretch plaid!
Pair plaid with a loud printed shoe; I chose a platform boot which gives this a vintage look. You can throw just about any duster or jacket over the dress. If you are feeling like a plaid Queen, then put plaid on plaid!

Another option for shoes? Go for the sparkle! Try wearing shimmer tights with open toe shoes!
Let's not forget the faux fur; a crop jacket, long jacket, or a coat! Any color will work. I chose faux fur with plum, brown, black, and nude. Take the same idea of the sparkle shoes and shimmer tights to set this look off!

A Message From My Garage!

Happy Whatever Day It is When you Read this!

Can you believe it’s the freaking end of November?! How did we get here? Shall we just tell each other Happy New Year now?!

The fabulous news is that there is still time left in 2018 to do whatever you had planned to do this year. You know there is thing called planning. There is this thing called prepping. Both are good and can be productive, but neither one means perfection.

So, here is a short video I did on my YouTube channel to share some insight! https://youtu.be/LldxAmiVsaw

I would love to hear what you have planned for the rest of 2018 and even for 2019! Please comment on my YouTube channel, comment on this post, or send me a message to any of my other social media outlets. Let’s chat!

Another Style Session

This past week, the morning temperatures have not been the usual 75 and 80 degrees that I love so much. Instead the mornings have started to feel a little too much like Fall! I’m never ready for it, but what I am always ready for all those Fall Style Guides that can be seen in magazines, in ads, and of course, online!

Recently, my eyes glossed over as I was flipping through People Magazine and saw its’ brief “Fall Style Guide”. I thought it would be fun to share this with all of you Tamu Talks readers. I took pictures of a few pages from the magazine as they give easy tips on putting colors and pieces together. So even if you are not smiling about cool temperatures, you can smile about your Fall Wardrobe!

What is Your Favorite Fall go-to piece or outfit? We want to know! So don't be shy, comment below or send an email to info@tamuinc.com.

You don't have to reach or the big dots; choose a pleated skirt or dress, which keeps the dots subtle. For starters, try a black & white combo and then for color, add a yellow, turquoise, or any loud color scarf or handbag to set your outfit off!

Hold Onto Your Shorts!

Yesterday it was just January 3rd and today is the end of August. So, should I say Happy New Year to you now?!!

As we move into September, we’re also moving into another season. Let’s just call it the “cooler season” (I’m rolling my eyes at this very moment). For those of you that don’t have to worry about the “cooler season” (I’m still rolling my eyes), just keep sipping and reading.

It’s natural to start packing away our Summer clothes, but wait, you can still wear them with some simple layering. Take that strapless dress and wear it with a bright colored scarf and a sleek leather jacket. For those flirty skirts and perhaps the minis you wore, pair those with leggings and boots. What about your shorts? Oh yes! We can layering the shorts. Leggings hold different weights. Some leggings are made of heavier stretch material, some are of a lighter weight. So when you are feeling really good about yourself, pair the shorts over the light weight leggings.

One of my favorite layering pieces is the duster: simply put, it’s a long jacket that you can wear as a jacket or even a dress. The duster is considered a trend, but I look at it as one of those staple pieces that you can keep forever.

Always keep those tank tops at the front of your closet. You can easily layer tank tops with fitted long sleeve knit tops. And don’t forget about the faux fur jackets; an instant glam look and easy to pair with one of your lightweight, solid color or graphic t-shirts, jeans, and your favorite pair of heels! That’s it! Easy right?!

Show me your layering outfit of the day! You can email your picture to info@tamuinc.com or tag me on your social media post on Instagram @ tamuinc or on Facebook at tamu incorporated .
