Five Minute Make Up

These sessions could be one of my favorite pieces to write on Tamu Talks. We deserve some pampering. Sometimes for me, pampering really is as simple as putting on a little makeup. Life is busy and it’s easy to say, “I don’t have time for pampering.” Of course, pampering goes beyond spending time in the mirror to put on mascara. Moments of pampering take us off of the grid so we can actually think in peace and recharge. I say you grab those moments every chance you get. Pen it on your calendar!

Now for the makeup tip that you have been waiting for: So we know that nothing combats the sleepy face better than actually going to sleep! But in the meantime, this tip will carry you through.  I lightly dusted black eye shadow over my lid. Any dark eye shadow will work. When you do this, stay within the lid and be careful to not extend beyond the outer corner of your lid. Then I took my black eye liner and lined my bottom lid. I also lined my top lid and extended the liner slightly pass the corner of my eye. When you don’t have time for extra dramatics, you can #1 use a clear high gloss, #2 high gloss with a hint of color, or #3 fill in your lips with a neutral or mauve lip pencil and cover with a clear gloss. I chose #3, which you will see in the photos below. For my cheeks, I used a peach all-in-one eye shadow and blush by Makeup Forever (makeupforever.com).

Summer Shopping Spree!

There’s something about the Summer that puts me in the mood to shop; to REALLY shop. I mean shopping so hard that every day of the Summer I could be found in a brand new outfit complete with accessories!  Yesssss! Ok.now.wait. Of course, like every other season, there are Summer staples that we can get good use out of: the simple tank top, the maxi dress and/or skirt, the linen blazer, a simple white t-shirt, and a pair of khaki or black capris (Ripped denim capris are my personal favorite. If you don’t have a pair, go get a pair! But finish reading this post and viewing the pictures first :-)  Before you go on that crazy shopping spree I described a second ago, consider this. You want to be cute and comfortable but you have a busy day running errands and you also have scheduled a brief round table with your friends. Remember that skirt and top you bought for that reception you were invited to, how about pairing the skirt with a simple t-shirt. For an even more casual look, you can take the top and pair it with those ripped capris that you have to go buy after reading this post! You may have purchased a few staples and outfits to get you through the Summer day-to-day and vacations effortlessly. That’s perfect. But before you go buy new clothes for your new invite, look for the fashion show that’s already in your closet!

This is a two piece top with a high wasted skirt that can be worn to any Summer event, including that cruise or resort vacation! It's lightweight cotton that, surprisingly, does not wrinkle easily. The top has an open back and the skirt is fitted with "almost" thigh high slits on the left and right side.

This is how you can pair the dressy top with any denim for a more casual look.

Take the same skirt and wear with a t-shirt or any graphic t-shirt. Have fun with it!
